Everything on arielbidding.com comes from these Notion pages. Edit here; the website picks the change up within about five minutes (or immediately via the refresh link at the bottom).
- Each opening bid has a parent page with sub-pages. Add a new sub-page by creating a page inside the parent — the website's menu follows the Notion page tree and order.
- Use Heading 2 for a sequence, with the auction as the heading text, e.g.
1♣ – 1♦ – 1♥. Every heading becomes a link target and shows up in search and in the page's table of contents. - Link to another page by typing
@and the page name, or paste a Notion page link — the website turns both into internal links.
- One line per call:
2♥ – 5+♥, 4+♣, NF— the call, an en dash, then the meaning. The website renders the call as a bid chip automatically. - Longer sequences:
1♦ – (1♥) – X – (Pass) – 1NT – 17–18. Opponents' calls go in parentheses. UseXfor double,XXfor redouble,Passfor pass,NTfor notrump, and the suit symbols ♣︎ ♦︎ ♥︎ ♠︎ (on a Mac: Edit → Emoji & Symbols, or copy them from here). - Shapes are digits in ♠︎♥︎♦︎♣︎ order:
4225,(14)35,5!♠4!♣(an exclamation mark after a digit means "exactly"). - Inside running text a bid is only shown as a bid box when you mark it with a leading exclamation mark:
!4♠,!2NT,!X,!Pass(the mark disappears on the website). Without the mark,4♠means four spades — a holding. For quick typing you can also write!4S,!4H,!4D,!4C,!3N.
- Add example hands as bullet points directly under the sequence, one hand per bullet, suits in ♠︎ ♥︎ ♦︎ ♣︎ order, separated by spaces:

- A label before the colon is optional (N, Opener, Responder, West…). Use
-for a void,xfor a small card,Tfor a ten. The website draws these as hand diagrams; several in a row become a row of diagrams. - To make the examples collapsible, put the bullets inside a toggle block titled "Example hands".
Use a callout block (type
/callout) and set its icon to one of these emojis. The emoji is only how Notion tells the categories apart — the website never shows it; it renders the block with a written label and its own colour:| Icon in Notion | Label on the website | When to use |

For a highlight inside a sentence, use a text background colour instead: yellow = hard to remember, blue = competitive, grey = verbal agreement, orange = recent change, green = key rule.
Use Notion comments (select text → Comment) to discuss anything. Each heading and callout on the website has a small "Discuss in Notion" link that opens exactly that block here.
The site refreshes itself every few minutes. To publish immediately, open the refresh link from the site owner (it looks like
arielbidding.com/api/revalidate?secret=…).
